[vos-d] VOP patches for 0.23.0

Hi again,

while I am at it, I thought I'd send the patches I am currently using  
to switch VOS back to the VOP protocol. For most applications (in  
particular mesh and omnivos) you can use the flag --proto=vop, but  
some do not support it (in particular the CS plugin, wxterangreal,  
and a3dldemo).

Btw. the a3dldemo patch also fixes a number of permission problems,  
which would occur even if you used it with VIP.
