I've actually started referring to the 3D application as
"Interreality 3D" in new documents, since it's less confusing.

For those who are wondering about the name, Ter'Angreal is a reference
to the "Wheel of Time" series of fantasy novels by Robert Jordan. A
"ter'angreal" in is a magical artifact, and some of the most important
ter'angreal artifacts to the story are the ones that grant access to
"Tel'Aran'Riod" which is the "World of Dreams". The virtual world is an
insubstantial, dreamlike place, so I felt that the browser that enables
access to such a place is sort of a magical object.

(There's also the Arthur C Clarke quote, "Any sufficiently advanced
technology is indistinguishable from magic" :-)

The UI is basically a web browser and chat client smooshed together.
More time has probably been spent fighting with WxWidgets layout issues
than actually thinking about what the best UI would be.

This has always been an issue, but it would probably be more interesting
to say a wider variety of /interesting/ worlds. In particular,
interactivity is interesting, but without dynamic scripting (server side
or otherwise) it's a hassle since you need to write an Omnivos server
plugin in C++.

I won't say much here except that pretty soon I'm going to sit down and
start working on the design outline for s5 (which includes much more
than just networking). My plan is to then flesh out each section and
post it to the list as a sort of RFC (Request For Comments) process, so
everyone gets a chance to nit-pick my ideas :-)

Nice, but unfortunately we probably want an icon that looks good with as
few colors as possible, and will look good when scaled up and down.
